Tibetan Plateau is known as the roof of the world and is the source of three rivers, Yangtze, Mekong and Yellow River. The plants and living creatures here construct the particular biodiversity of the plateau. Followed by their unadorned ecological concept, local Tibetan people protect every inch and every life on this land and their Buddhism belief becomes saintly guard of this pure land. Consequently, the ecosystem and biodiversity of riverheads have been remarkably reserved.
Cuochi village is located on the 4500 meters altitude alpine meadow grassland. Grazing here grows exuberantly within this short-less than 100 days-warm season. Here breed the yaks and Tibetan sheep, which support the herdsmen’s survival. It also nurtures every wildlife species on this land. Resort to advocating sentiment of nature and inheritance of traditional ecological culture, Tibetan nomads make friends with wild animals and plants, and have preserved a stable plateau pure land.
During this short Eco-culture festival trip, I was deeply moved and astonished. No more noises of the city and no more modernization. Solar energy used for short period illumination at night, and dairy manure becomes the only fuel for making butter tea and preparing food. Accompany with early morning prayers and yak moos, enchanting sun rises on the horizon. The whole grassland cheers up for the annual horse racing festival. Over 80 tents and over one thousand people gather together to celebrate this grand event. However, no tiny little garbage can be found, everywhere seems crystal clear. After several days of the festival, grassland remains clean and beautiful. Don’t you believe it? Don’t you feel impressed? Don’t you feel shame? People from modern civilizations!
You cannot imagine how simple and warm hearted the herdsmen are. There is no alcohol, no quarrel and fighting. The living Buddha explained Tibetan ecological values and elected the most merciful, filial and natural herdsman. After that, following traditional manners, numerous herdsmen voluntarily swore not to kill any wild animals or to pursue any wildlife trade. From the every beginning of stepping on this land and walking into herd Garang’s house, deeply moving went along with me. Although the Tibetan dialect here is different from mine, I could hardly feel any difficulty in our communication. Although life is simple, they will use the best yak butter to make tea and the best beef and mutton to cook for their guests. At night, the host will save the best place in the tent for you and make the bed with the best Tibetan blanket and quilt. From dawn to moonrise, smiling is always on their faces, and you can feel that smile comes from the bottom of the heart.
Everyday, after having enough Zanba, a kind of barley bread, and morning tea, I joined in the festival. Because of lacking of vegetable and the harsh weather of plateau, my mouth felt dry even drinking a lot everyday. The water is absolutely necessary. Sometimes I forgot to take my cup with me, my host Garang and his son Dongzhao would bring my cup filled with water to me. Sometimes they even brought me with“ San Pao Tai” tea, which is very precious here on the plateau. Being a Tibetan, I was really impressed! I felt pretty ashamed to receive so much care from the host!
There are still many more stories, much more thankfulness about Cuochi. My dear friends, if you have time, come to Cuochi. The journey will become your treasure and pride for life!
Cuochi, saintly beautiful place! Cuochi, pure land of riverheads! May you have a bright future! |
